Two persons including a woman killed in two separate road mishap in Jolaibari
In two separate road accidents in Jolaibari area under South Tripura on Wednesday, two people lost their lives, casting a pall of gloom over the untimely death of two persons.
Sources said that the first incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in front of the Jolaibari Community Health Centre. The deceased has been identified as Bhushan Das (60), a resident of Muhuripur area.
Local sources said that Das was returning home on a bicycle from the Kakulia area when a Bolero jeep (registration number TR 08 E 0683), traveling from Santirbazar towards Sabroom, hit him on the national highway and fled from the scene. The impact threw him onto the road, causing his death on the spot.
After receiving information, firefighters from Jolaibari rushed to the spot and took him to the Jolaibari Community Health Centre, where the attending doctor declared him dead. His body will be handed over to the family after the post-mortem examination on Thursday.
Police from Baikhora police station have initiated an investigation to trace the accused jeep and its driver. News of his demise spread quickly, leaving the entire Jolaibari area in mourning.
In another incident on the same afternoon at around 6 PM, one Lalita Tripura (42) died after being thrown off a newly purchased motorcycle in the Sagardepa area of Jolaibari. According to doctors at the Jolaibari Community Health Centre, both victims died due to severe head injuries sustained in their respective accidents.
The body of Lalita Tripura will also be handed over to her family after post-mortem examination on Thursday.
