Two scrap traders arrested, recovered huge quantities of stolen items
After the arrest of a 16-member gang of dacoits from Pragati school area of Agartala, the city police on Monday launched a massive crackdown operation in different parts of the capital city and arrested two scrap traders including a woman and recovered huge quantities of stolen items.
Giving details SDPO(Sadar) Ajoy Kumar Das said that based on the interrogation statements of all arrested dacoits, the police personnel from West Agartala police station and Battala TOP raided at separate locations and arrested two scrap traders directly involved with a gang of dacoits.
He said that a police team raided the house of one Sattar Miah at Charipara area under AD Nagar police station, who was locally known as a big scrap trader and purchased all kinds of stolen items from different gangs of thieves and dacoits.
During the raid , police team recovered huge quantities of valuable stolen items from his house, worth rupees lakhs and also seized two vehicles, which were used for transportation of stolen items.
Later, the police raided at the Dashamighat area of the city at the house of one woman identified as Maya Rani Das and also recovered large quantities of household stolen items from her house.
Police arrested both scrap traders and will produce them before a local court on Tuesday with appeals for police remand for further interrogation .
