Union Agriculture Minister launch Queen pineapple at Delhi Haat
A launching ceremony of Tripura’s famous organic state fruit Queen Pineapple including pineapple food items was held at Delhi Haat, New Delhi by the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department on Thursday.
Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurated the exhibition cum fair of launching Tripura’s ‘Queen Pineapple’ to expand and promote its wide-range marketing across the country and abroad to double the income of pine-apple growers.
Speaking at the launching programme, Union Agriculture Minister Tomar said that the once deprived region, Northeast, is getting the light of holistic development due to the visionary plan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Tripura’s soil and temperature is conducive for the cultivation of organic pineapple. The Queen variety Pineapple of Tripura in terms of quality is the best, it is sweeter and tastiest of all to cater to the needs of the foodies.
It was the Prime Minister’s foresight, all the states of Northeast India including Tripura were flourishing. Today Tripura's honour is further augmented in the national capital in Delhi Haat where its state fruit will be marketed in a sustainable manner for the development of the horticulture farmers of the state. Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Minister of Tripura Ratan Lal Nath, DoNER Secretary Lok Ranajan, Secretary of Agriculture department of Tripura, Apurba Roy, Director of Agriculture Sharadindu Das, Director of Horticulture, Dr Phani Bhushan Jamatia, Managing Director, NERAMAC Rajib Ashok, MD of SIMFED Bhaskar Basnet were also present at the launching ceremony.
Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that the main object of launching Queen variety pineapple in Delhi was to make a place in the world market by drawing the attention of the exporters and spreading the brand image of the state.
Apart from this, discussions have also started with the traders so that pineapple can be popularized throughout the country and exported abroad. On Thursday, a detailed discussion was held with the traders at the Delhi market. The Department of Agriculture has taken the initiative to ensure that the pineapple farmers of the state get the right price for their pineapples.
Nath hoped that the launching event will play a pivotal role in spreading the state’s pride and reputation across the world in the near future.
