Uses of police forces in democratic movements, reflect weakness of govt, Manik Sarkar
The highhandedness by police administration and uses of power to suppress the voice of common people by the government through its autocratic fascistic rule is reflected in the weakness of the ruling party, said opposition leader Manik Sarkar.
Addressing a press meet here at CPI(M) headquarters on Thursday evening, opposition leader Manik Sarkar accompanied by two veteran party MLAs Bhanulal Saha and Ratan Bhowmik highlighting the recent incidents held across the state and uses police power on democratic and peaceful movements by deprived classes, Sarkar said that the why government using the force through its police administration is reflected their weakness and a symptom of isolation from people due to their anti-people policies continuing for past 55 months.
Sarkar mentioning the police atrocities during the movements by unemployed nurses, MPW workers, and STGT qualified candidates on October 31st and November 1st to submit their deputation before Health Minister and Education Minister said that the CPI(M) legislative team strongly condemned the barbaric act committed by police on innocent unemployed youths of the state.
"The way government trying to suppress the voices of masses by using its police forces undemocratically, now civilized society will tolerate it and will give them befitting reply in coming days," said Sarkar and added that since October 19 to 28, about of 6 to 7 crime against women incidents held in different parts of the stat, but it is a matter of serious concern that the government machineries and actively working to protect the accused persons, who are from ruling party.
Recalling the heinous act on Kumarghat and Kalyanpur gang rape incidents on two minor girls and involvement of ruling party leaders including a family of a top leader of BJP and a head of village body, Sarkar claimed that to hide the concerning issues police arrested few people, but protecting main culprits , who are from ruling party.
Once Tripura police achieved the President’s colour batch for its bravery and successful combating the decade long insurgency, now they are working only for ruling and committing atrocities on common people, said Sarkar and added that they want to ask the police administration when they will maintain their constitutional duties.
He alleged that after a series of heinous offences, the Chief Minister cum Home Minister of the state remained a silent spectator even DGP of the state did not utter any word to condemn such incidents, rather they are protecting accused BJP supporters.
He also slammed the state government over an abrupt hike in tuition fees for MBBS course in Tripura Medical College (TMC) and said that in 2017, the MBBS course fee was Rs. 21.85 lakh now it has increased to 67.68 lakh. Sarkar asked how the poor and meritorious students of the state can study in the medical college and demanded immediate declaration of reasonable pay structure for TMC.
He also condemned the attack on Congress programme in Routkhela area of Bishalgarh on Wednesday. Sarkar said that people will not tolerate the political violence of the ruling party and they will unitedly give them a befitting reply to store the democracy in the state.
Sarkar once again appealed to all likeminded democratic and secular political parties for a dialogue to finalize the strategies to oust the ruling BJP in next assembly elections.
