VB G RAM G reflects new approach to rural growth: CM
Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha on Friday said that the VB G RAM G Act is a historic step and it would help in developing socio-economic development for rural people.
Addressing a press conference at the Pradesh BJP Office, Dr Saha said that there were many arguments regarding the VB G RAM G Bill in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. But it is strange that after the passing of the bill, the opposition is doing the same outside, which is confusing people.
“Keeping the Maharashtra Employment Guarantee Act of 1977 in mind, this experience culminated in the MNREGA, providing a nationwide legal framework for rural employment. There were many loopholes. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government is taking one step after another, and for that, he is saying that reform is necessary, and for that, ease of doing, ease of living, and ease of business would be ensured. The VB G RAM G Act aims to replace the MNREGA with a new framework that includes higher work guarantees, dedicated funding for rural development, and a focus on durable infrastructure creation. Earlier, there used to be work but with no durability,” he said.
Dr. Saha also said that this new framework also includes tightened accountability in employment programs, with a commitment of over Rs. 95,000 crore from the central government for this initiative.
“This bill reflects a significant shift in India’s approach to rural employment and development. The VB G RAM G Act is a historic step. I want to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for thinking about the people. We must work for the socio-economic development of rural people. If we remain city-centric, then nothing will happen.
Earlier, the mandays were 100 days, and now it will be 125 days. Earlier, there were delays in providing wages, but now that will not be possible, and decentralization will be ensured in the Gram Sabha. The new law places strong emphasis on water conservation, water security, asset creation, livelihood generation, rural infrastructure, and climate change mitigation,” he added.
