Young girl arrested as mastermind for murder of Bharat Ratna club secretary
The mastermind of the a group of accused involved with the sensation of shootout incident at Shalbagan area under Airport police station, in which club secretary of Bharat Ratna Sangha of Usha Bazar, Durga Prasanna Deb alias Viki was shot dead, the Agartala city police on Thursday midnight arrested one lady from West Bhubanban area .
Earlier, after one day of the incident, the investigation team of Airport police station has arrested former club president of Bharat Ratna Sangha, Pradyot Dhar Chowdhury from Usha Bazar and based on the interrogation statement of Chowdhury, who was in three days police custody, police on Thursday night arrested one of the prime accused and mastermind of the murder, Sushmita Sarkar (22).
Police sources said that along with interrogation statements of Pradyot Dhar Chowdhury and CCTV footage collected from the nearby areas of the scene of crime, Sushmita was arrested.
On Friday afternoon both arrested accused were produced before the court of Chief Judicial magistrate (CJM) of West Tripura with 10 days police remand prayers for interrogation.
Giving details of the case, government advocate Indrajit Biswas said that earlier, the CJM (West Tripura) of Saikat Das sent Pradyot Dhar Chowdhury to police remand up to May 3rd and on Friday police again produced him with five more days remand appeals to get more information over gruesome murder.
Police have also produced Sushmita Sarkar, who had alleged illicit relationship with slain Durga Prassana Deb alias Viki and had also relationship with other accused on the murder including one Raju Barman, said Biswas.
He said that the investigation team through its police remand appeals has urged the court that they need police remand for 10 days for Sushmita, who is mastermind of the incident and investigation team has to collect the weapon of crime, phone call details of Sushmita with accused Raju Barman along with call record and WhatsApp details, who was constantly touch with Raju Barman and other accused persons to eliminate Viki as per their pre-planned shootout.
Later, the court after hearing both prosecution and defense teams has granted four days police remand to both Sushmita and Pradyot Dhar Chowdhury and both of them will again produce before the court on May 7th next.
It may be recalled here that soon after the shootout incident, the Airport police station lodged a Suo-Moto FIR on April 30th last and arrested Pradyot Dhar Chowdhury on May 1st. On the same day, police produced the accused before the court of Chief Judicial magistrate (CJM) of West Tripura with five days police remand for interrogation and court granted 3 days remand to him.
Advocate Indrajit Biswas said that after the sensational murder of Durga Prasanna Deb alias Viki on Tuesday evening (April 30) at Shalbagan area under Agartala Airport police station, police has registered an Suo-Moto FIR under section 302, 120(B) of IPC and 27 Arms Act against assailants and police has arrested one of the accused Pradyot Dhar Chowdhury from Usha Bazar area.
He added that based on the complaint of the wife of the deceased youth, many club members of Bharat Ratna Sangha were involved with the sensational murder of Viki, who was also a local leader of BJP.
It may be recalled here that the shootout at Shalbagan Bazar has prime reason of growing rivalry among different groups of negotiation mafias and the North side of Agartala city has once again shaken the cantonment area of Shalbagan , in which club secretary of Bharat Ratna Sangha of Usha Bazar shot dead.
A large contingent of police teams led by the SP (West) Kiran Kumar and other senior officials rushed to the spot and they launched a massive investigation to find out the details of the shoot-out incident, which mainly held for a share of money of negotiation CPW contracts and police suspected that local mafias may be involved with the shootout incident.
While speaking with the media persons in front of ILS Hospital on Tuesday night, the elder brother and wife of the victim youth claimed that one Biman Das of Bharat Ratna Sangha called Viki in the evening and sent his car to reach Shalbagan area. They also complained that mafias of Usha Bazar area were responsible for killing of their kin.
Viki’s wife said that negotiation mafias including Raju Barman, Biman Das, Rajesh Barman, Debabrata Barman, Santosh and Prabakar Ghosh were responsible for the killing of her husband and she had also named these persons in the FIR.
Meanwhile, SP (West) Kiran Kumar said that police investigations are in progress and expressed his hope that after interrogation, police will be able to arrest all escaped criminals involved in the shootout.
