Youth arrested with 1.5 kgs gold bars from Tejas express
In a significant success, the Government Railway Police (GRP) wing of Tripura police on Monday evening arrested a gold smuggler from Tejas Express and recovered 1.5 kilograms of Gold biscuits under his possession.
The sources in GRP said that based on the secret information , the SP of GRP Amitabha Paul along with police personnel of GRP police station of Agartala railway station detained a suspected passenger, who was about to board the Tejas express to go to Guwahati.
Police added that when the GRP team started searching, the detained person identified as Abul Basar(23) of Natunbazar area under Sonamura police station had recovered multiple gold biscuits weighing 1544 grams, which was worth of Rs. 1 crore approximately.
Police added that interrogation is going on and so far the arrested smuggler did not reveal about the source of the large quantities of gold bars and its destination. While, GRP has handed over the seized items to Custom Officials for further legal proceedings.
