Youth killed after being run over by a speeding truck; tension grips Bhati Abhoynagar area
A youth was killed in a tragic road accident after being run over by a truck in the Bhati Abhoynagar area of Agartala on Thursday afternoon, triggering tension in the locality.
Police sources said that the deceased has been identified as Dipak Kumar Deb, a bicycle rider. The incident occurred in the Moylakhola area under West Agartala police station when a speeding truck (TR-01—BB-1810) hit him while he was riding his bicycle. The impact was so severe that Dipak Deb died on the spot.
Following the accident, enraged local residents intercepted the truck and detained accused truck driver before handing him over to the police.
After receiving information, police and local political leaders rushed to the spot to assess the situation. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident and shifted the body at GB Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police added that they have arrested accused driver and started an investigation.
