British man commits suicide after fatally choking 26-year-old girlfriend during drug-induced sex
A drug-induced 'sex game' by a couple in the UK went wrong after a 26-year-old woman was accidentally choked to death by her boyfriend during the act, leading to his own suicide a few hours later, an inquest in a British court has heard.
The boyfriend, who was identified as Luke Cannon, 31, was found dead in a woodland near Bradford Royal Infirmary, a day after he was told by medics his partner Georgia Brooke, 26, had died from the practice of sexual choking, media reports said.
Bradford Coroner’s Court on Wednesday heard the couple had taken the drug GHB before having sex at Cannon’s house on 3 February 2022, reported BBC.
GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate), which is actually used recreationally, is also known as a date rape drug with surveys finding its use for sexual assaults of women in unconscious state while it is commonly used by gay men to enhance their sexual experiences. However, a small increase in dose can even turn lethal.
Cannon called an ambulance after the 26-year-old dancer lost consciousness.
She was reportedly confirmed dead just five minutes after she arrived at the hospital.
The court heard text messages between the couple which showed the choking was consensual, reported BBC.
The inquest into the dancer's death had been told how the police had wanted to speak to Cannon on suspicion of murder, but he fled the hospital through a fire door before they could do so, the British media reported.
In his conclusion at the inquest into Miss Brooke's death, senior coroner Martin Fleming said that while there was "no evidence" that Cannon attempted to kill his girlfriend, he must have used "excessive" force on her neck for her to die.
He even described the practice of sexual choking as "dangerous" with fatal consequences.
