Chaos in Court! AC explosion shakes Pakistan’s top judicial building, 12 hurt
At least 12 people were injured after a cylinder exploded in the basement of the Pakistani Supreme Court on Tuesday.
The blast occurred during repair work on the building’s central air-conditioning system, sources told Samaa TV.
Lawyers, judges’ staff, and other employees rushed outside after the explosion triggered a panic inside the premise.
According to reports, Court No 6 has been severely affected by the explosion.
Justice Ali Baqar Najafi and Justice Shahzad Malik were conducting a hearing when the explosion occurred.
Speaking to the media outside the court, Islamabad IGP Ali Nasir Rizvi told Samaa TV that the gas had been leaking in the canteen for several days, adding that the explosion took place during the repair of the air conditioner.
"Experts have also confirmed that it was a gas explosion," he stated.
