Donald Trump claims suspect in Charlie Kirk shooting has been arrested
Police have arrested a person in connection with the murder of US President Donald Trump's close aide and conservative activist Charlie Kirk, media reports said.

The confirmation about the arrest was made by Donald Trump.
He told Fox News: "I think with a high-degree of certainty, we have him."
He said: "Essentially, someone who knew him turned him in."
However, Trump did not reveal the identity of the suspect who had been arrested.
Trump expressed his hope that the suspect gets the death penalty if he is found guilty.
"We have the person that we think is the person we're looking for, but they drove into the police headquarters, and he's there now," Trump told the news channel.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Utah authorities earlier released new photos of the suspect who is believed to have gunned down conservative activist Charlie Kirk while he was speaking at Utah Valley University.
The FBI Salt Lake City wrote on X: “The FBI continues to work alongside our law enforcement partners to seek justice in the murder of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. We are releasing additional photos of a person of interest.”
The photographs shared by the FBI showed a young man wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses. He was captured in a stairwell of a building.
He was also seen wearing a shirt with an American flag printed on it.
FBI announced award
The FBI said it is offering a reward of up to USD 100,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the individual(s) responsible for the murder of Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.
Highest civilian honour for Kirk, announces Trump
President Donald Trump on Thursday led officials in paying tribute both to the victims of the 9/11 attacks and to right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot dead a day earlier.
Describing Kirk as a “giant of his generation” and a “champion of liberty,” Trump spoke at a ceremony held at the Pentagon, one of the targets of the Al-Qaeda strikes 24 years ago that triggered two decades of conflict.
The president also announced that Kirk would be posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honour.
Kirk shot dead
Kirk was shot dead on Wednesday during his address at Utah Valley University in Orem.
A single gunshot was fired, striking Kirk on his neck while he was addressing the students at the university.
He was speaking at an outdoor “Prove Me Wrong” table as part of his American Comeback Tour.
FBI Director Kash Patel said a person who was taken into custody in connection with the crime had been released after interrogation by law enforcement.
