Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh killed in Iran: Reports
Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh has been killed in Iran's capital city Tehran, local media reports said.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Wednesday morning that Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed when their residence was hit in Tehran, reported Press TV.
IRGC said the attack is currently under investigation.
The Palestinian resistance leader was in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Iranian president-elect Masoud Pezeshkian, Press TV reported.
The Israeli military has refuted to comment on the death of the Hamas leader so far.
The Israeli military told CNN they 'don’t respond to reports in the foreign media'.
Who is Ismail Haniyeh?
Ismail Haniyeh was a Palestinian politician who was widely considered to be the chief political leader of Hamas, which has governed the Gaza Strip since 2007.
He was the chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau.
