Mob fury returns: Hindu home torched in Bangladesh amid chilling ‘final warning'

The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the politically unstable nation, days after the mob killing of a Hindu man triggered widespread international condemnation.

According to reports, a threatening banner was found near the site of the arson attack, warning members of the Hindu community and accusing them of engaging in so-called anti-Islamic activities. The banner allegedly ordered them to halt their movements and gatherings immediately.

The attack targeted the home of expatriates Jayanti Sangha and Babu Shukushil, India Today reported.

Locals told the news channel that all family members narrowly escaped by cutting through a fence moments before the house was engulfed in flames.

The handwritten banner, written in Bengali, reportedly read as quoted by India Today: “This is to inform the Hindu residents of this area that you are being closely observed. You are accused of engaging in activities against Islam and the Muslim community. You are hereby warned to stop your movements, meetings, and activities immediately. If you fail to comply, you will face severe consequences.”

The message concluded with a chilling warning: “This is the final warning. Any resistance will result in serious action.”

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Education Adviser C R Abrar, a member of the interim government, visited the residence of Dipu Chandra Das, who was lynched by a mob last week in Mymensingh amid ongoing unrest following the death of anti-India leader Osman Hadi. Abrar met the victim’s family and assured them of government support.

On behalf of the Office of the Chief Adviser, Abrar confirmed that financial and welfare assistance would be provided and that authorities would remain in close contact with the bereaved family.

Dipu Chandra Das was beaten to death by a mob outside a garment factory in Bhaluka after rumours spread that he had made derogatory remarks about Islam. His body was later hung from a tree and set on fire, with disturbing videos of the incident circulating widely on social media.
