Mukesh and Nita Ambani meet US president-elect Donald Trump before inauguration
Washington/D.C/IBNS: India's top industrialist Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani have met US president-elect Donald Trump whose inauguration is scheduled to be held Monday.
While Mukesh, who is one the richest people in the world, is the Reliance Industries chairman, Nita is the chairperson of Reliance Foundation.
The two were invited to a private reception which was held in Washington ahead of the inauguration of Trump, who will replace Joe Biden as the US president on January 20.
In an Instagram post, Reliance Foundation wrote, "At the Private Reception in Washington, Mrs. Nita and Mr. Mukesh Ambani extended their congratulations to President-Elect Mr. Donald Trump ahead of his inauguration.
"With a shared optimism for deeper India-US relations, they wished him a transformative term of leadership, paving the way for unprecedented progress and collaboration for the two nations and the world."
Apart from Ambanis, Amazon chief Jeff Bezos was in attendance on Sunday.
The Ambanis are expected to get prominent seats on the dais during Trump's inauguration on Monday.
India's external affairs minister S Jaishankar will represent the country at the inauguration, which will mark the beginning of Trump's second term after a break for four years.
Trump, who will be sworn in as the 47th US president, will be inaugurated at an indoor place due to extreme cold weather in Washington.
Apart from Ambani, several top businessmen Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerburg, Jeff Bezos will also be present at the inauguration.
The inauguration will begin with a traditional service at Church followed by White House tea and swearing-in at the Capitol.
