Not all cultures are equal: Indian-American influencer Priya Patel's remarks on 'immigration' draw online criticisms
Indian-American influencer Priya Patel has sparked controversy after posting a video online urging the U.S. government to restrict immigration from “third world” countries, claiming that “not all cultures are equal.”
Patel, whose social media activity suggests she supports the MAGA movement, said in the video: "Not all cultures are equal. There, I said it. Guess what? All people are created equal under the eyes of God and the law, but not all cultures are equal."

She added that some cultures “embrace things like slavery, underage marriage, polygamy, [and] human sacrifice,” and questioned why the United States should allow individuals from such backgrounds to immigrate.

Patel also warned that immigration could be “bad” even under legal channels, arguing: "We’re allowing our culture and our norms to be completely eroded. These people are coming here, they’re not assimilating, and then they’re outbreeding us in our own country. And then on top of that, they’re committing violent crimes against American citizens and killing us."
She concluded that the U.S. should be “incredibly selective on the type of people we allow to come here and how many of them.”
The video immediately drew criticism online, with many netizens questioning Patel’s Indian-origin surname and accusing her of hypocrisy.
One X user wrote: "Wild take from someone named Patel. You’d think a family history of immigration would come with a bit more awareness."
Another said: "So by your definition, we shouldn’t have allowed your family to immigrate to the US from a third world country, India, right?"
Others mocked the contradiction: "Wait, isn't one of your parents literally from the third world? Lmao." and "Your last name is PATEL."
