Price of tomato crosses Rs. 200 per kilogram in Pakistan ahead of Eidul Azha
Price of tomato has crossed the Rs200 per kilogram mark in Pakistan ahead of Eidul Azha celebration.
The latest price spike in the food occurred in just a period of a day.
This happens every year during Ramazan and Eidul Azha without inviting any attention from authorities despite the latter’s tall claims to the contrary, reported The Express Tribune.
The situation has forced the Peshawar Deputy Commissioner to impose a ban on transporting tomatoes out of the district via the imposition of Section 144.
Local residents told The Express Tribune that prices had increased by Rs100 per kilogram in a single day and it now seems the district administration’s efforts would remain limited to verbal instructions yet again.
