The photos showcased the grandeur of these big cats as they roamed freely in their protected habitat. "Lions and lionesses in Gir! Tried my hand at some photography this morning," he added.
Recalling his tenure as Gujarat’s Chief Minister, Modi spoke about his government's efforts in wildlife conservation, emphasising that sustained initiatives over the years have contributed to the steady growth of the Asiatic lion population.
He also lauded the role of local tribal communities and women in safeguarding the lions' habitat, acknowledging their contributions to conservation efforts.
Dressed in safari gear, Modi was seen taking in the scenic beauty of Gir, the world's only sanctuary for Asiatic lions.
He ventured deep into the forest, witnessing these majestic creatures in their natural surroundings.
Following his Gir safari, Modi visited Vantara, an animal rescue, conservation, and rehabilitation centre at the Reliance Jamnagar refinery complex.
Dedicated to the welfare of captive elephants and other wildlife, Vantara provides sanctuary, rehabilitation, and medical care for animals rescued from mistreatment and exploitation.
