Air India urination incident: Pilot, four cabin crew members grounded

New Delhi: Air India has issued show cause notice and de-rostered a pilot and four cabin crew members pending investigation into the alleged urination incident which took place in the former national carrier.

Air India CEO and managing director Campbell Wilson has listed several steps taken by the management over the incident which had triggered massive outrage.

"Four cabin crew and one pilot have been issued show cause notices and de-rostered pending investigation," Air India said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai man, who peed on a female co-passenger on an Air India flight allegedly being drunk, was arrested by the Delhi Police from Bengaluru late on Friday night.

A look out notice or airport alert was put out to track down accused Shankar Mishra, who was on the run.

Though he kept his mobile phone in the switch-off mode, Mishra's usage of social media accounts gave police the lead to trace him.

On a New York-New Delhi flight on Nov 26, Mishra allegedly unzipped his pants, urinated on the elderly passenger, who was travelling in the business class.

Later, Mishra had begged the woman to not report him to the police saying that would leave an impact on his family.

Air India, which filed a police complaint only this week, banned Mishra from flying for 30 days.
