Bengal Govt to present budget on Wednesday before Panchayat polls
Kolkata: The West Bengal Government will present the budget on Wednesday in the State Assembly before the Panchayat elections.
Before that, there is an information commissioner election meeting at noon in the assembly. Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari had been invited to the meeting but he turned down the invitation.
Suvendu informed that he is not attending that meeting.
State Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya will present the budget in the Legislative Assembly at 2 pm on Wednesday.
Before that, there is an important meeting on the information commissioner election in the assembly. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is expected to attend it.
Opposition leader Subhendu Adhikari was also supposed to be present in that meeting. A letter was also sent to him by the state.
But before the start of the meeting, Shuvendu tweeted that he is not attending the meeting.
Shuvendu wrote on Twitter, “I have declined the invitation to join the Committee Meeting for appointing the State Chief Information Commissioner, as because the advertising guidelines for inviting applications have been violated, reducing it to a farcical process to approve an already
pre-decided Candidate.”
According to rules, Shuvendu is supposed to attend the Information Commission election meeting as the leader of the opposition. The chairperson of the three-member committee is Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. One person approved by the Chief Minister is in that committee. According to that, Minister Sobhandev Chattopadhyay is a member of that committee. Shuvendu was also invited. But he returned it.
But according to the equation, Trinamool is the majority party in the state assembly at the moment. As a result, the opposition leader had to accept their nominated members. That is why speculation has started whether Shuvendu returned the invitation to attend the meeting.
