Bengal SSC scam: Actor Bonny Sengupta appears before ED
Kolkata/IBNS: As per the directive from the probe agency, Tollywood actor Bonny Sengupta reached the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Kolkata on Tuesday for quizzing in connection with the West Bengal teacher recruitment scam.
Bonny, who had appeared before the ED last week, was asked to provide the details of the car which he admitted to have bought with the monetary assistance of arrested Trinamool Congress youth leader Kuntal Ghosh.
Bonny, who was quizzed for hours on Thursday, admitted he was helped to buy a car by Kuntal Ghosh, an accused in the case, through a single transaction of around Rs. 35-40 lakh.
Bonny on Thursday said, "I met Kuntal for the first time during an event in 2017. Later he wanted to make a film with me. I have worked for 20-22 events with him. I had requested him to make a single transaction to my car account to help me buy the vehicle."
"It was the only transaction of around Rs. 35 lakh between the two accounts," the actor, who claimed to have a personal relationship with Kuntal, said.
Bonny claimed he had made no agreement with Kuntal for the events.
The ED has reportedly claimed to have discovered some financial terms between Kuntal Ghosh and Bonny Sengupta.
Bonny, who had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before the 2021 state polls, also runs a production house- named BK Entertainment- along with his actor girlfriend Koushani Mukherjee.
