Indian Foreign Secretary Kwatra in Nepal for bilateral talks
New Delhi: Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra, who arrived in Nepal on Monday on a two-day visit, held talks with his Nepalese counterpart Bharat Raj Paudyal on several subjects, and discussed several issues of bilateral cooperation, including connectivity, power trade, agriculture, health and culture.
Earlier, on his arrival at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport he was received by Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bharat Raj Paudyal, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Navin Srivastava and others.
From the airport, he went directly to Hotel Yak and Yeti, a Nepalese daily said.
The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, in a post, said that it welcomes “Foreign Secretary Shri Vinay Kwatra who is visiting Nepal from 13-14 February 2023. During the visit, Foreign Secretary will meet Foreign Secretary of Nepal, Bharat Raj Paudyal and hold discussions on the entire range of multifaceted India-Nepal cooperation.”
According to the Kathmandu Post, the Indian Foreign Secretary is expected to hand over Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation letter to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to visit India.
This is the first high-level visit from India after Pushpa Kamal Dahal became prime minister on December 25 last year.
Foreign Secretary Kwatra called on President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
" Foreign Secretary Shri Vinay Kwatra paid a courtesy call on Rt. Hon'ble President of Nepal Mrs. Bidya Devi Bhandari at Sheetal Niwas and conveyed greetings on behalf of Hon'ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu," read a tweet issued by the Indian Embassy in Nepal.
He is also scheduled to call on Prime Minister Dahal, and former prime ministers Sher Bahadur Deuba and KP Sharma Oli, among others, and discuss the entire gamut of bilateral ties.
According to MyRepublica, during the meeting with his Nepalese counterpart the two sides discussed “several issues of bilateralcooperation, including connectivity, power trade, agriculture, health and culture.”
