Indian Railways revolutionizes train journeys with Vistadome Coaches, boosting tourism in Northeast India
Indian Railways has transformed train journeys across the country with the introduction of Vistadome coaches. These innovative coaches, featuring expansive glass windows and roofs, offer passengers an immersive 360-degree view of the picturesque landscapes, revolutionizing the travel experience.
Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has emerged as a pioneer in implementing Vistadome services, aiming to promote tourism and showcase the rich cultural heritage of Northeast and North Bengal regions, reported The Hills Times.
The introduction of these state-of-the-art coaches has not only attracted tourists from far and wide but has also stimulated the local economy, generating employment opportunities and uplifting indigenous industries.
NFR spearheaded the Vistadome services on two sections, Guwahati-New Haflong and New Jalpaiguri-Alipurduar, on August 28, 2021. These world-class offerings were strategically introduced to shed light on the natural beauty of these regions and tap into the untapped potential of the tourism industry.
With large numbers of domestic and international tourists flocking to experience the breathtaking views, the Vistadome coaches have played a pivotal role in putting the spotlight on the mesmerizing landscapes and cultural treasures.
The positive impact of Vistadome coaches on the local industries has been remarkable. As tourism flourishes, it has created a surge in job opportunities, injected fresh revenue into the region, and provided a platform for showcasing indigenous products on a global scale.
One such example is the Guwahati-Haflong Vistadome service, which revitalized the tourism industry in Dima-Hasao that had been adversely affected by the Covid-19 restrictions. The economic growth brought about by the increasing influx of tourists has significantly benefited various sectors of the local population, uplifting their financial well-being.
Recognizing the tremendous benefits, NFR has expanded the Vistadome services on several routes, including Agartala-Jiribam, Guwahati-Naharlagun, and most recently, New Jalpaiguri-Howrah.
Furthermore, the newly introduced Kulik Express also features a Vistadome coach, catering to the rising demand for these immersive travel experiences while exploring unexplored tourism areas in the region.
The tourism industry, in addition to generating revenue and employment opportunities, plays a crucial role in overall regional development. The introduction of Vistadome coaches has significantly elevated the economic standards of the local population, acting as a catalyst for attracting more tourists.
Indian Railways, being the most extensively connected mode of transportation in the country, assumes a pivotal role in enabling travelers to discover these hidden gems and propelling tourism in the Northeastern and North Bengal regions.
