Jammu and Kashmir: Police arrest 4 drug peddlers, contraband substances recovered
Srinagar: Police on Sunday arrested four drug peddlers in different parts of Kashmir valley and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Police said it intercepted in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district a suspicious person at a checkpoint established near Nippora crossing on NHW-44.
During his search 4Kgs of grinded Cannabis, 50 grams of Cannabis Powder and 80 grams of Charas like substance concealed in a gunny bag were recovered from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Mohammad Imran Malik, a resident of Khaloora, Devsar.
Similarly, a police party at a checkpoint established at village Ahmadabad in the same district intercepted a suspicious person and recovered 3 Kgs of Poppy Straw and 120 grams of Charas like substance concealed in a Nylon Sac from his possession.
He has been identified as Gull Mohammad Najar, a resident of Ahmadabad.
A Police Party in Pulwama district arrested one drug peddler in a suspicious condition at Beighpora crossing along with 600 grams of Charas Powder like substance. The accused has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, a resident of Beighpora.
In Handwara, a police party of Police Station Kralgund during patrolling at Panditpora intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully.
During the search, around 29 grams of Charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.
He has been identified as Lateef Ahmad Mir, a resident of Langate.
All the accused persons were arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody and accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and further investigations has been initiated, police added.
