Kolkata doctor rape-murder: Bengal govt accepts list of students' demands, cancels Sandip Ghosh's appointment
Kolkata/IBNS: The West Bengal government on Wednesday introduced changes in the top administrative posts of Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, where junior doctors are on ceasework protesting against the brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old post-graduate medical student.

As demanded by the students, Professor Dr. Suhrita Paul has been replaced as the RG Kar principal with Dr. Manas Kumar Bandyopadhyay.
Dr. Paul took charge after Dr. Sandip Ghosh stepped down following protests from the students.
Dr. Paul has been appointed the Barasat Government Medical College and Hospital principal, the post which was held by Dr. Bandyopadhyay.
RG Kar Medical College and Hospital medical superintendent Professor Dr. Bulbul Mukhopadhyay has been removed. Professor Dr. Saptarshi Chatterjee has been appointed to the post.
The government has removed Professor Dr. Arunava Dutta Chaudhuri as the head of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital's Chest Medicine Department, where the victim was a trainee.
The rejig came a day after the junior doctors marched to the Swasthya Bhawan, the head office of the state health department, and made the demands.
The state government has also cancelled the appointment of Dr. Sandip Ghosh as the principal of Calcutta National Medical College, where he was controversially posted hours after his resignation from the same post of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
The trainee doctor was allegedly raped and murdered at the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, which is located in North Kolkata's Belgachia area.
One person, a civic volunteer, has been arrested in connection with the case but protesting students as well as the victim's parents suspect more people are involved in the case.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ghosh was on Thursday summoned for the seventh consecutive day after the Central Bureau of Investigation took charge of the case.
As per the Supreme Court order, CISF has been posted at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, which was vandalised in the intervening night of August 14 and 15.
