'Kuntal Ghosh bought me a car': Bonny Sengupta after ED quizzing in Bengal teacher recruitment scam
Kolkata/IBNS: Tollywood actor Bonny Sengupta on Thursday admitted he was helped by Trinamool Congress leader Kuntal Ghosh, who is behind the bar in connection with the teacher recruitment scam, to buy a car in one single transaction, media reports said.
After getting quizzed by the ED officials in the first round for about four hours, Bonny told the media he had worked for 20-22 events arranged by Kuntal.
"I met Kuntal for the first time during an event in 2017. Later he wanted to make a film with me. I have worked for 20-22 events with him. I had requested him to make a single transaction to my car account to help me buy the vehicle."
"It was the only transaction of around Rs. 35 lakh between the two accounts," the actor, who claimed to have a personal relationship with Kuntal, said.
Bonny claimed he had made no agreement with Kuntal for the events.
The ED has reportedly claimed to have discovered some financial terms between Kuntal Ghosh and Bonny Sengupta.
Bonny was initially asked to appear before the ED at the CGO Complex in Kolkata on Friday.
Due to his busy schedule, the actor appeared before the ED on Thursday.
Bonny, who had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before the 2021 state polls, also runs a production house- named BK Entertainment- along with his actor girlfriend Koushani Mukherjee.
He made his acting debut in 2014 with Borbaad and went on to act in films like Parbona Ami Chartey Toke, Jio Pagla, Raja Rani Raji et al.
His latest release was Dal Bati Churma Chachchari, which was a BK Entertainment production.
Former state education minister Partha Chatterjee, former primary education board president and Trinamool MLA Manik Bhattacharya are among the people who have been arrested so far in connection with the scam.
