Labourer killed, another missing after avalanche hits central Kashmir's Ganderbal
Srinagar/IBNS: The body of a labourer buried under snow following a massive avalanche was recovered in the Sarbal area of central Kashmir's Ganderbal district on Thursday, reports said.
Another labourer is missing after the avalanche hit the Sarbal area of Kashmir.
The rescue operation has been intensified in the area.
The labourer was involved in the Zojila Tunnel work when the avalanche hit the Sonmarg area.
According to reports, two avalanches were reported in the area which has witnessed continuous snowfall in the last 24 hours.
A rescue operation by police, SDRF, Army and Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) teams is currently underway and efforts are on to clear the snow-laden area.
Medical teams with ambulances and first aid kits are also kept on standby.
