Italy has invited India to the Summit of 7 nations- US, UK, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan and France- as an outreach country.

Prime Minister Modi is likely to hold a meeting with his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni during the summit, which is scheduled for June 13-15.

As per a report by NDTV, India has defence and maritime cooperation as its agenda in the summit.

"He (Joe Biden) expects to see Prime Minister Modi here (in Italy). It's up to the Indians to formally confirm his attendance, but our - our expectation is that the two of them will have the opportunity to encounter one another," US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said.
