PM Modi 'shielding' Gautam Adani: Rahul Gandhi
New Delhi/UNI: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of protecting billionaire businessman Gautam Adani, a day after he asked the latter to clarify his relationship with Adani.
"I am not satisfied. He did not talk about inquiry (over the Adani issue). The PM should have said for an inquiry," Rahul said reacting to PM Modi's speech in Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
The Congress MP from Wayanad, who posed a volley of questions to the PM over Adani in the Lower House on Tuesday, said, "I have not asked any complicated questions to the PM. There was no answer."
"The PM is trying to protect him," Rahul said, referring to Adani.
Meanwhile, Congress General Secretary in-charge Communications and MP, Jairam Ramesh took a dig at the PM and said, "Divert, defame, denigrate and deny. The 4 Ds in the PM's own style that describes his so-called reply in Parliament. Not a word -direct or indirect -on the PM’s links with his favourite businessman, Adani, or his ghotalas."
Several Opposition parties including Congress have been demanding that the Centre either constitute a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) or set up an inquiry under the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to look into the Hindenburg Research report, which alleged that Adani Group had engaged in stock manipulation and accounting fraud scheme over the course of decades.
