Tripura CPM calls opposition parties to unite to defeat BJP
Agartala/UNI: The opposition CPM in Tripura called for a united fight to unseat the BJP-led government in upcoming assembly elections while demanding to Director General of Police to take action against SDPO Bishalgarh Rahul Das and Additional SP (Sepahijala) Randhir Debbarma for their inaction to prevent the murder of Shahid Mia (65).
Besides CPM, Congress and Trinamool Congress have also protested against the killing of CPM supporters in presence of police on the National Highway at Charilam Bazar in Sepahijala district on Wednesday during a political programme of CPM. While TMC demonstrated in front of CM’s house, Congress burnt down the effigy of Chief Minister seeking his resignation.
The CPM State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury on Friday said Congress MLA Sudip Roybarman and TIPRA Motha Chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarman had spoken to him after the incident and expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation of the state.
"I appealed to both of them and also to other non-BJP parties to join hands to defeat BJP led government in the state in the coming assembly poll.
"Since 2018, BJP cadres with the support of their leaders and administration have continuously been perpetrating violence on the opposition parties," Chowdhury stated.
No other party supporters were spared and in not a single election in the BJP regime people could exercise their franchise – they looted the vote. Other than BJP, no other party, even its ally in the government IPFT, could carry out it’s political activities in last 57 months of rule. Now, the time has come to save the people from the clutches of BJP’s miscreants unitedly, he pointed out.
He alleged three identified BJP cadres had killed Shahid Mia in presence of police in broad daylight on Wednesday while leaving at least 20 CPM supporters injured. Most illegally on Thursday police officials refused to hand over the mortal remains of Shahid Miah to his family members.
The dead body has been kept by the police in order to please the ruling party leaders. For the post-mortem procedure, consent signatures were taken by the doctors from the deceased brother. But the cops stopped the hospital authority from handing over the body rather snatched the dead body from the hospital by resorting to lathi charges on the family members, Chowdhury alleged adding that police intervened in the religious rituals.
Despite differences in ideology and viewpoints of the parties like Congress, TIPRA Motha, and Trinamool Congress, it appeared to be the call of time to fight unitedly against BJP led government, which made public life miserable and destroyed democracy in the state, he opined adding, "We can fight on ideology and policies but cannot with the life of the innocent people what BJP is doing here."
