Uttar Pradesh: Wanted criminal arrested in Bulandshahr
Bulandshahr/UNI: A criminal absconding for the last three years was arrested in an encounter with the police in Akbarabad area of Bulandshahr district here in Uttar Pradesh, a senior officer said here on Wednesday.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shlok Kumar said that during a vehicle checking drive near Gurjar Chowk Inspector Sikandarabad Raj Pal Singh spotted a man moving under mysterious circumstances.
"When signaled to stop, the man attempted to escape and opened fire on the police team," he said.
He said that in retaliatory firing the man sustained bullet injury and was arrested.
"The arrested accused has been identified as Anis, who has several cases lodged against him in Bulandshahr and Ghaziabad," he said.
The SSP said that a case of dacoity was lodged against Anis at Masuri police station in Ghaziabad and he was absconding since then.
"A reward of Rs 5,000 was announced for his arrest. Anis has been admitted to the district hospital in police custody," he said.
