Major crackdown, Assam Rifles thwarts plan to disrupt peace in Jiribam, Manipur
In a major crackdown by security forces, search operations were launched in Jiribam on Thursday. These operations led to successful recovery of weapons and war-like stores from the region.
Assam Rifles and Manipur Police successfully recovered war like stores including 100 Gelatin sticks weighing 12.5Kgs and live ammunition were recovered from Uchathol, Jiribam.
In another operation launched by Assam Rifles along with CRPF and Manipur Police in Mualzawl and Binselu Villages in Jiribam, five locally made single barrel guns, one locally made 12 bore gun, one Pistol, two Pompy with 6 bombs, one IED (remote and electrically initiated) and two Gelatin sticks were recovered from a rubber plantation by employing explosive sniffer canines.
These recoveries have given a major blow to individuals still in possession of arms and war like stores with the aim to hamper peace and stability in the region.
Assam Rifles has been working in close cooperation with sister agencies and building confidence measures with Civil Society Organizations in the region. The efforts have significantly led to the surrender of large scale weapons and war-like-stores in the region.
