RPF of NFR apprehended 174 touts this year, recovered railway tickets worth more than Rs33.24 lakh
Guwahati: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is regularly conducting drives to control the menace of touts. In recently conducted checks and drives over the zone from October 1st to 31st, 2024, RPF apprehended 7 touts and recovered 55 railway tickets worth above Rs. 1.19 lakh from them.
In an incident on 09th October, 2024, CIB of Katihar and RPF of Barsoi teams jointly conducted a raid & search operation at Barsoi. During the raid the team recovered 2 live tickets, worth around Rs. 5,790 and apprehended one tout in this connection. A case was registered under section 143 of the Railways Act at Barsoi for further course of action.
In another incident on 27th October, 2024, RPF of New Coochbehar and CIB& CPDS teams of Alipurduar jointly conducted a raid & search operation at “Bapi Xerox” located at Okrabari Bazar, Coochbehar. During the raid the team recovered10 tickets, worth around Rs. 49, 842 (1 live E-ticket, worth Rs. 6,504.95 and 9 used E-tickets, worth Rs. 43,337.30) and apprehended one tout in this connection. A case was registered under section 143 of the Railways Act at New Coochbehar for further course of action.
During various raids and checks at stations and trains over N. F. Railway 174touts were arrested and total 1215 tickets worth more than Rs. 33.24 lakh were recovered by RPF of N. F. Railway this year from January till October, 2024.
Apart from keeping a close vigil of unauthorized & illegal procurement of railway tickets, RPF of N.F. Railway is always ready to provide services and assistance to the rail users besides their task of ensuring security to the passengers. N.F. Railway authority would like to request all passengers to undertake their journey with proper tickets only to avoid problems during train travel.
