38 NDPS act cases, 54 smugglers arrested in a month, police
In continuation of its drive against drug menaces and its trafficking, the state police in significant development have arrested 38 NDPS Act cases and arrested 54 persons within the span of last one month.
Addressing a press conference at police headquarters on Friday evening to highlight the achievements of state police, AIGP (Police Control) Jyotishman Das Chowdhury accompanied by AIGP(TSR) Subrata Chakraborty expressed their gratitude towards the people of Tripura for peaceful celebration of Durga Puja and Diwali festivals.
Das Chowdhury said that due to sincere efforts made by the state police, the property offenses have drastically come down and during the last three months, police have arrested over 95 property offenders and the drive against thieves and property offenders has also been continuing.
He said that during a special anti-narcotics drive, police have seized 2245 kilograms of dry cannabis, 256 grams of Heroin, 1911 bottles of contraband cough syrup and 2464 Yaba tablets. Police said that during the last conference on drug trafficking and National Security held at Guwahati, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah appreciated the efforts of state police for prevention of drug trafficking.
They said that a total of 380 awareness camps were organized under the banner of ‘Prayaas’ across the state to enhance community policing along with other civic action programmes.
Through , the special drive against helmetless driving, illegal parking, over speeding and violation of the traffic rules, over Rs. 60 lakh was realized as fine money under various sections of MV Act in the current month. Moreover, traffic enforcement has continued to prevent drunk driving, over speeding, fatal accidents and other traffic violations.
