5 NLFT (BM) extremists surrendered before police
Five extremists of NLFT (BM) faction on Friday surrendered before SP, Dhalai district, Avinash Rai on Friday evening in Chawmanu police station of the state police without any arms and joined mainstream.
The intelligence branch of the state police in collaboration with Dhalai district police were hunting to bring them back and ultimately forced them to surrender. The surrender of five newly recruited is considered a major setback for the militant outfit that was trying to reorganize itself.
Tripura police through a press statement said that five NLFT(BM) cadres, who joined the organization in Bangladesh, on Friday returned to the mainstream and they were identified as Kanta Mohan Tripura (45) of Manikpur, Nakshatra Debbarma of Bishramganj, Emang Debbarma (20) of Champahowar, Gertajoy Tripura (23) of Manikpur and Mansubar Tripura (25) under Manikpur police station.
All the surrendered extremists had joined the NLFT (BM) group during the last one and half years ago, said police and added that their detained interrogation will help the security forces to gather more information about the activities of the banned organization.
Police also said that their surrender will also motivate other cadres to surrender before the security forces and join the mainstream of the society, leaving the path of violence behind. Police added that Tripura police is committed to ensuring the state government’s policy of zero tolerance against insurgency.
