A wanted accused under NDPS Act arrested
A wanted smuggler under a specific case of Pecharthal police station under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 was arrested from Bishalgarh on Tuesday night.
Police sources said that the Pecharthal police station of North Tripura district has informed the counterpart of Bishalgarh that a wanted accused named as Yonus Miah (26) of Karoimura village under the same police station has been hiding for the last many months.
Based on the information, the police personnel from Bishalgarh police station raided that village on Tuesday night and managed to detain wanted accused Yonus Miah. After his detention, Bishalgarh police informed the same to Pecharthal police station and in the mid-night, they handed him over for further legal proceedings.
Police added that Yonus Miah was wanted in a case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, which has been registered on December 6th, 2022 for smuggling of narcotic items.
