Amidst post-poll violence, ruling and opposition parties urges for peace, harmony
Amidst continuation of stray incidents of post-poll violence and simultaneous act of administration to control the law and order situation, the political parties including ruling oppositions appealed to the people of the state to maintain peace and mutual brotherhood.
While, both ruling and opposition has also alleged each other over instigation of violence and demanded concrete steps from Election Commission of India (ECI) to control the situation.
On Sunday, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tripura, Kiran Gitte convened a meeting with all the political parties with an appeal to maintain peace. The CEO requested all the political parties to appeal to their supporters to be tolerant and to show patience and not to take law in their hands. If any violent incident happens, then they should approach the Sub-Divisional Magistrates and the concerned Police authority. Personal animosity and family feud shall not be projected as a political incident as it will give a wrong message to the society and it may deteriorate the law and order situation.
ECI has also strictly said that no post poll violence of any kind shall be tolerated and adequate CAPF is available to ensure peace and tranquility.
On Monday, opposition CPI (M) through a press statement said that in the 14 days gap in between elections and counting of polled votes, many untoward incidents are happening across the state amidst imagination, the activists of ruling party resorted to large-scale attacks on innocent opposition supporters and destroying their valuable properties.
Considering the present situation, the ruling should restrain their party workers from miscreant activities and should play a concrete rule to maintain the law and order situation.
They also demanded impartial rule from Election Commission, civil and police administration to arrest all perpetrators of violence and also appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony and should avoid any kind of provocation.
Meanwhile, on Monday BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee along with minister Bhagaban Chandra Das and other senior party leaders of Unakoti district visited violence affected arrest of Kumarghat, where few BJP supporters sustained injuries after pitch-battle among the supporters CPI (M)-Congress and BJP on Saturday last.
Bhattacahrjee visited the house of one BJP worker Rupak Koiri, who was beaten mercilessly at an agitated mob at Kumarghat market on Saturday during a road blockade programme. Later, police also arrested seven persons involved in the attack.
Speaking with media persons Rajib Bhattcharjee said that miscreants of Communist and Congress during their road blockade programme on Saturday in Kumarghat indiscriminately attacked innocent BJP supporters. He warned that people of the state will not tolerate hooliganism of opposition parties and will give them a befitting reply. Bhattacharjee also appealed to the people to maintain peace and should maintain harmony in their respective locality.
Another team of BJP led minority leader Jasim Uddin and Mousumi Das visited many houses at Bishalgarh subdivision, where many BJP workers were attacked by opposition parties and their house-hold properties were destroyed.
Opposition Congress leaders has also appealed to the people to maintain peace and should avoid any kind of provocation.
