Another minor tribal girl 'gang raped' in Kalyanpur, 1 arrested
Amidst statewide political tension and allegation with counter allegation issuing gang rape of a 16-years old girl in Kumarghat, another incident of gang rape held at Kalyanpur area under Khowai district on Wednesday.
Police sources said that minor tribal girl, who was returning home after attending cultural programme with her friends from Kash Kalyanpur area of West Dharikapur , was allegedly obstructed by few youths and snatched her mobile phone, they kidnapped her and gang-raped her night long. She also said that miscreants had allowed her other friends to return back to their houses, but she was not allowed to go back to her house.
On Wednesday, she somehow returned to her home in serious condition and narrated the heinous act committed on her by four miscreants to her parents. She also mentioned the names of four miscreants , who are allegedly owing allegiance to the ruling party.
Kalyanpur police station registered the case under section 376,341,325,354,392, 34 of IPC and section -4 of POCSO Act and started investigation. Police within 24-hours of the incident arrested one prime accused Tapash Debnath . Officer-in-charge (OC) of Kalyanpur police station and SDPO(Teliamura) Prasun Tripura said that an FIR has been registered against four persons including Aditya Das, Tapash Debnath, Ratan Debnath and Bidhan Datta.
Police added that they launched massive manhunt to arrest three other miscreants and soon they will be able to detain remaining three rape accused.
The incident came days after another teenager was allegedly gang raped in Unakoti district, with the opposition claiming that a state minister's son was involved in the crime.
Police added that all necessary legal processes including the medical test of the girl have also been completed.
While, after the incident reported, activists of Tipra-Motha and Congress staged a protest demonstration in front of Kalyanpur police station and demanding immediate arrest of all miscreants in involved in the gang raped. They also alleged that the ruling party try to give safeguards to miscreants involved in the incidents and if police are not able to arrest them within next 24-hours, then they will organize a road blockade programme at Teliamura-Khowai road.
