Attack on police team at East Pilak village, 5 arrested
A group of villagers attacked a police team, when they tried to stop a party “Chitrahar” in tribal dominated East Pilak village under Santirbazar subdivision of South Tripura district.
During indiscriminate attack by villagers on a police team, two ASI and one constable of Baikhura police station suffered injuries and police has also registered a specific case against nine miscreants, involved in the attack.
Sources said that on Tuesday night after receiving complaints over boozing and gambling parties and heavy noise at the East Pilak village over showing of “Chitrahar” (filmy song and dance programme), a team of police personnel from Baikhura police station in plain clothes raided the spot. When they tried to stop all illegal activities, irate villagers started attacking the police team and somehow, the police team managed to escape from the spot.
On Wednesday, police registered the case against 9 miscreants and arrested five of them, who were produced before a local court for further legal proceedings.
