Before Lok Sabha polls, AICC declares full PCC team
A day after formation of Election Committee and Screening Committee for Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee , the All India Congress Committee (AICC) with the approval of AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge has approved the proposal of the appointment of vice-presidents, general secretaries, secretaries, treasurer, executive members and DCC presidents of Tripura Pradesh Congress committee (TPCC) on Sunday.
KC Venugopal, General Secretary of AICC in a press release said the AICC President has approved their appointment and the full committee of the TPCC headed by president Ashish Kumar Saha. He also announced Swarup Kumar Shil as president of the party’s students’ wing NSUI.
There was an attempt to give representation to all sections of the society but what is noticeable is that the faction led by Birajit Sinha never deserted Congress and was marginalized and got very few representation. It is also noticeable that all new faces have been inducted in the PCC executives while all the senior leaders have been inducted in the committee as executive members only.
As per the announcement the PCC will have six vice-presidents, they are Ashok Debbarma, Smt Pritha Deb, Sishta Mohon Das, Shanti Ranjan Debnath, Sankar Malla and Madan Saha. Seven General Secretaries including Prasanta Sen Choudhury, Dilip Kumar Deb, Tarun Saha, Maitry Deb, Sabda Kumar Jamatia, Milan Kar and Abdul Basit Choudhury.
In addition to that there are nineteen secretaries in the committee. Bhabananda Bhowmik has been appointed as office secretary and Shyamal Pal as treasurer. There are 41 executive members in the committee including veteran leader and former Chief Minister Samir Ranjan Barman, MLAs Gopal Chandra Roy, Birajit Sinha and Sudip Roy Barman, former MLA Diba Chandra Hrangkhawal etc.
The names of nine district presidents have also been declared. They are Ajit Das for Dharmanagar, Md Badrujjaman for Kailashahar, Nidhu Marak for Ambassa, Pradyut Bhattacharjee for Teliamura, Gopinath Saha for Bishalghar, Dipak Chakraborty for Sonamura, Titan Pal for Udaipur, Mridul Patari for Belonia and Tanmoy Roy for Sadar.
