Bike rider killed in head-on collision with minister’s convoy at Bishalgarh Bypass
A retired school headmaster was killed in a tragic road accident after his motorcycle collided head-on with the escort vehicle of Cooperation Minister Sukla Charan Noatia at the Bishalgarh Bypass Road on Wednesday afternoon.
According to sources, the incident occurred around 12:50 pm near Lockdown Choumohani. The minister’s convoy was travelling from Agartala towards Bishalgarh when the escort vehicle reached the square. At the same time, a motorcycle reportedly entered the bypass road at high speed and collided head-on with the escort car.
The rider, identified as Amar Chandra Chowdhury, a retired headmaster from East Laxmibill village under Bishalgarh police station in Sepahijala district, sustained critical injuries in the accident.
Security personnel accompanying the minister immediately rushed the injured man to Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later referred to GB Hospital in Agartala. However, he succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the hospital.
Reacting to the incident, Minister Sukla Charan Noatia said that the convoy was proceeding towards Bishalgarh via the bypass road when the motorcycle suddenly entered the intersection at Lockdown Choumohani and met with the accident. An investigation into the incident is underway.
