BJP Khowai Mandal secretary removed for involvement with kidnap of a contractor

The ruling BJP on Monday removed the secretary of 25-Khowai Mandal committee with immediate effect for his alleged involvement with the kidnapping of a contractor from Agartala city on June 30 last over a dispute for PWD works.

On Friday (June 30), a Khowai based PWD contractor Shyamal Deb was kidnapped by a gang of miscreants from the busiest North Gate area of Agartala and after intervention of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, the Agartala city police managed to rescue the kidnapped contractor  within 45 minutes of the sensational kidnapped.

Contractor Shyamal Deb was returning from Gurkhabasti area towards his rented house in Nagerjala area of Agartala through a scooty and when he crossed the North Gate square, a few miscreants with a red colour car stopped him and kidnapped Deb.

Later, the kidnappers went to the bordering areas of Fatikcherra-Kamalnagar area under Mohanpur subdivision.

Immediately police had activated all Naka points in and around the city and by using scientific technology, police managed to rescue the kidnapped man from Shalbagan area, at the outskirts of Agartala city.

Police said that the kidnapping incident was held due to rivalry over the tender process of PWD works and police have identified all criminals involved with kidnapping and Khowai Mandal secretary Pintu Roy was the kingpin for kidnapping the contractor.

Rescued contractor Shyamal Deb has also said that recently he got three contracts of PWD works of Khowai district as lowest bidder. Then, negotiation mafias led by Pintu Roy of Khowai started harassing and threatening him to surrender all contracts and filed an FIR against Pintu Roy and his accomplices.

Based on the media report and police FIR, the vice president of the state unit of BJP, Tapas Bhattacharjee through a memorandum said that the party will compromise with any criminal activities and never encourage a leader or worker, who is involved with criminal activities.

The state unit of BJP also asked Pintu Roy to give his reply over his removal as Mandal secretary within next five days citing why not any disciplinary action would be taken against him. 

It may be recalled here that Tripura police has arrested the mastermind behind, Pintu Roy of Khowai district for abduction of contractor Shyamal Deb.
