After the mysterious death of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Dharmanagar Mandal president Rahul Kishore Roy, which has sparked widespread concern and tension in the area, on Wednesday morning, BJYM state president Sushanta Deb visited Dharmanagar and stood beside the bereaved family of the deceased leader.
He went to the residence of late Rahul Kishore Roy, where he met the grieving family members, including his parents, and expressed deep condolences. He also listened to the details of the incident and assured the family of full support during this difficult time.
Speaking to the media after leaving the residence, Sushanta Deb said that Rahul’s sudden death is extremely painful for everyone, and due to the emotional circumstances, he was not in a position to address the press formally. He described Rahul as a dedicated party worker and someone like a younger brother, adding that he was not only an efficient organizational worker but also a kind-hearted person.

He also emphasized that both the administration and the party will work together to ensure proper arrangements and justice in connection with Rahul’s death.
It may be recalled here that a wave of shock and tension has gripped Dharmanagar town in North Tripura district after suicide of BJP councillor Rahul Kishore Roy, just a day after the by-election results were announced on Tuesday.
Rahul Kishore Roy, councillor of Ward No. 5 of Dharmanagar Municipal Council and Mandal President of the BJP Yuva Morcha, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his residence on Tuesday morning, a day after the BJP candidate’s victory in the by-election was declared on May 4, triggering widespread speculation and concern.
The wife of the deceased councillor, filed an FIR against seven miscreants, who were attacked on their house after bypoll results, identified as Kankan Chowdhury, Hirakjyoti Nath, Manoj Purokayastha, Niladri Bhattarcharjee, Abhijit Das, Suraj Deb and Prabal Deb.
Earlier, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said that the police will take all necessary steps to conduct an impartial investigation into the death of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leader Rahul Kishore Roy after his body was found in the bathroom of his residence in North Tripura district.
The Chief Ministerin a Facebook post said: "I would like to assure that the allegations brought forward by his (Roy's) wife will be thoroughly and impartially investigated, and appropriate legal action will be taken in accordance with the law." "I am deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Rahul Kishore Roy, Mandal President of Yuva Morcha in Dharmanagar. I pray for the eternal peace of his departed soul and extend my heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family members," Chief Minister Dr Saha added in his social media statement.
The incident sparked intense political and social unrest across the town. Party workers, supporters, and local residents took to the streets demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible and strict punishments. Protesters blocked key roads in Dharmanagar. The Municipal Council Chairperson, several councillors, members of the public, and his neighbours joined the demonstration. The prolonged blockade brought traffic to a complete halt, causing severe inconvenience to commuters.
Deceased’s wife said that a group of seven miscreants allegedly owing allegiance to the ruling BJP and closely associated with the newly elected BJP candidate Jahar Chakraborty and his wife Barnali Goswami, former chairperson of Tripura Commission for Women (TCW) visited Roy’s house on the afternoon and night prior to the incident, where he was humiliated and assaulted. She claimed to have identified the accused and alleges that the incident was premeditated, possibly with political motives.
His wife also alleged that she, along with her elderly father-in-law and mother-in-law, were assaulted by the same group of 'miscreants' and she on Wednesday directly blamed newly elected MLA Jahar Chakraborty and his wife Barnali Goswami solely responsible for the death of her husband.
