In a heartrending in incident, sexagenarian old man was arrested by Kamalpur police station under Dhalai district after he allegedly raped a child, aged two years and eight months only.

Police sources said that based on a complaint registered at Kamalpur police station on November 12 last, police immediately registered a specific case against the accused person and started investigation.

Necessary legal steps have been taken including medical check up of the victim minor girl, who is now under treatment in Kamalpur BSM Hospital.

Police added that they have arrested accused person identified as Jamsed Ali (64) of North Halahali under the same police station within a few hours of the heinous crime. On Sunday, accused was produced before a local court for further legal proceedings.

Local sources said that Jamsed Ali taking the advantage of the loneliness of the victim girl house, raped the child. When her parents returned back to their house realised the situation and immediately shifted their child into hospital after her condition deteriorated. The local villagers demanding capital punishment of arrested rapist claimed accused was earlier also involved such criminal activities.
