CITU to submit memorandum to GM-NFR demanding expansion of railway
The Tripura unit of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) along with leaders and MLAs of opposition CPI (M) will visit Guwahati at the last part of June to submit a memorandum before the general manager (GM) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) demanding expansion of railway in Tripura.
Addressing a press conference here at CITU office on Tuesday, the trade union’s Tripura unit president and veteran CPI(M) leader Manik Dey accompanied by its secretary and former MP Sankar Prasad Datta alleged that despite so called ‘double engine’ government , the expansion of rail yet to be a reality in Tripura said.
After many years, the railway services in Tripura are running through a single line, which has increased journey time at its multifold level, said CITU leaders.
They demanding double pairs of local trains in the routes of Agartala-Dharmanagar and Agartala to Sabroom and double-line in entire railway stretch across Tripura, the CITU in presence of top leaders of CPI (M) and MLAs of the party will submit a memorandum before the GM of NFR at Maligaon in support of their demands.
