City police arrested 13 bike lifters, 5 stolen bikes recovered in past 15 days
In the past fortnight, the Agartala city police have arrested 13 motor bike lifters and seized 5 stolen motorcycles under their possessions.
In their continuous investigations and operations, the city police has so far burst the inter-state motor bike lifter gang and based on the interrogation statements of previous arrested bike lifters, the West Agartala police station on Sunday midnight have also managed to detain two motor bike lifters.
While, giving details, SDPO(Sadar) Ajoy Kumar Das speaking with media persons on Monday afternoon here at West Agartala police station said that after thorough interrogation of two detained bike lifters identified as Sujjan Hussain of Madhupur and Kishore Paul of bordering Rajnagar area of Agartala, police recovered two stolen motor bikes under their possession.
He said that with the arrest of two new bike lifters, many gang members of inter-state bike lifters have been arrested so far and among them 11 are in jail custody. Das said that police arrested both Sujjan Hussain and Kishore Paul and they will be produced before a local court on Tuesday with police remand appeals for further interrogation.
He said that a gang of property thefts and snatchers from North Tripura are staying in the capital city for months in rented houses and they were involved with many stolen incidents. After snatching a number of motor bikes, they smuggled these stolen bikes to neighbouring Bangladesh through their international theft network.
He also said that police have identified all the gang members and soon they will be able to arrest more lifters.
During the past one month, the capital city police have arrested a number of thieves and motor bike lifters involved in a series of stolen incidents and after the arrest of these criminals, the growing number of stolen incidents across Agartala has also started decreasing.
