City police arrested a drug peddler, recovered drugs

Giving details of the raid, SDPO (Sadar) Ajoy Kumar Das on Monday evening said that based on specific information over procurement and sale of narcotic items, a team of police raided at the house of Sishir Kumar Banik at Math Choumohani area and in the course of search operation, police recovered large quantities of Brown Sugar vials and illegal liquors. Police arrested his son Soumyabrata Banik for running narcotic trade under NDPS Act case and he will be produced before a local court on Tuesday for further interrogation.
Das also said that police started an investigation to crack the nexus of drug peddlers across the city and area and after interrogation of the arrested peddler, they will be able to find out the routes of drug smuggling.
Based on other specific information, the police personnel from Battala and Ramnagar town outposts (TOPs) conducted joint raids and nabbed two drug peddlers namely Kudduch Miah of Bhati Abhoynagar and Mama Miah of bordering Rajnagar. Police also recovered and seized two pouches of Brown Sugar approximate weight of 16 grams under their possession. Both drug peddlers were arrested under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act) case and will forward them before a local court on Tuesday with police remand appeals for further interrogation.
SDPO Das said that they will unearth the entire nexus of drug smugglers and will arrest more such peddlers operating in the city areas.
