CM Inaugurates 15 new Log Huts at Narkel Kunja in Dumbur lake
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday inaugurated 15 new log huts at the Narkel Kunja (coconut island) surrounded by Dumbur lake in Gomati District of Tripura.
Inaugurating the beautiful log huts and enchanting beauties of Dumbur lake, Chief Minister Dr Saha stressed for campaigning of the hot tourist spots of the state across the globe to attract more tourists.
Under the "Swadesh Darshan" scheme, a total 23 log huts construction were started with a cost of Rs. 7.59 crore and among these, 15 log huts construction has been completed, which were inaugurated on Monday.
Chief Minister Dr Saha also inaugurated adventure water sports activities in the Dumbur lake, which is a vast water body of 41 square kilometers and has almost 48 islands.
The Chief Minister appreciating the role of Tourism Minister Pranajit Singha Roy and Tourism department’s secretary Kiran Gitte for improving the tourism scenario of the state said people always love travel , especially in vacation period. He said that Tripura has to highlight the tourism destinations of the state before the world, then more and more tourists will attract marvelous tourism spots of the state.
He said that nowadays his idea over Narkel Kunja has been changed after visiting the spot a few days ago and has also highlighted his experience of visiting Dumbur lake before several union ministers and urged them to visit the spot.

Dumbur is a unique gift of nature and with the induction of eco-friendly log huts, now tourism lovers will be able to feel the enchanting beauty of Dumbur lake, said Chief Minister and added that the government is working relentlessly to improve the tourism sectors of the state.
Around 5 lakh tourists visit Tripura every year and the government's target is to raise the graph of visitors at its many folds in the coming days, said Dr Saha.
During the inauguration programme, Tourism Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, MP Rebati Tripura, local MLA Parimal Debbarma, MDC Bhumikananda Reang, District Magistrate of Dhalai district UK Chakma and other officials, members of women-led SHGs and local people were also present.
It may be recalled here that the log huts have been constructed by Wood Barn India Pvt Ltd at a project cost for Rs7. 59 crore using prefabricated pine originated from Canada.
Recently, Tripura’s tourism department is contemplating to introduce a houseboat facility in this lake and Rs 7.38 crore has been sanctioned for development of 5 islands in Dumbur Lake along with sports adventure activities.
