No one will be spared for violence, Govt to act firmly: CM
Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday said that all steps will be taken to maintain law and order in the state and that no one will be spared for spreading violence.
Dr Saha said this after visiting Khowai district and meeting the violence-affected families.
He said that after the TTAADC election was declared on April 17, incidents of fire, assaults, and violence were reported in some places, and the situation became very dangerous.
“I had to go to West Bengal on the 18th April for an election campaign, and on April 17, all leaders held a meeting regarding the situation in areas like West, South, and Khowai. A committee was formed for this, and I left for Kolkata. From there, I was monitoring the situation. This is like a cancer disease. This is not new such things have been happening since 1970. Congress and CPI (M) have done this, and now Tipra Motha is doing it. Yesterday, I came here and saw that many people are living in camps. I went to Shaheed Bhagat Singh Camp where around 300 Janajati people were staying. I spoke with them and assured them that wherever losses have occurred, the government and the party will take care of it. I have also ensured their security,” he said.
He added that he will chair a meeting this evening on the law and order situation with the DGP and the Chief Secretary.
“We cannot allow this. This is like cancer. Cancer has no easy answer, but sometimes it needs surgery. This is a disease, and whatever medicine is needed, we will provide. We will not allow such things. Today I came to Khowai and saw around 250 people taking shelter in a party office. In some houses, attacks have happened twice, and in some places, people are being asked for money to return home. We will not spare them. As a Chief Minister and ministers, we have taken an oath to protect the public and provide security, and we will do so. We have already declared financial help and will provide more. We will establish law and order—this is a mission. We cannot allow such incidents anymore. That is why we have come here with the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police. We will take all necessary steps, and nobody will be spared. We have already started arresting criminals, and more will be arrested,” he said.
During the visit, DGP Anurag, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, BJP General Secretary, and MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury were present.
