Cong to organize tribal conference on August 9th
In order to strengthen the party bases in grass-root level, especially in tribal areas of the state, Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has decided to hold a conference of tribal leaders and workers of the party from all over the state in the ‘Muktadhara’ auditorium on August 9, the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples and the day on which the celebrated ‘quit India’ movement.
Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhavan on Saturday afternoon, Pradesh Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha accompanied by tribal leaders said that the conference will begin at 11 AM and will continue all through the day, where tribal leaders and workers of the party from various parts of the state will participate to finalise an all-out effort to strengthen the grass-root level organization of the party.
Saha said that there is a good support base for Congress in tribal dominated areas and the August 9th conference will finalise the party's activities and movements against long deprivation of tribal communities by the ruling BJP government.
Castigating the six years rule of the present government, Saha alleged that the socio-economic condition of tribal people day by day is deteriorating due to the step-motherly attitude of the BJP government.
Be it health, education, social welfare and all other sectors, this government has failed on all fronts, alleged Saha.
During the press conference MLA Sudip Roy Barman said that termed relief granted to Rahul Gandhi by the Supreme Court as moral victory and said that Rahul Gandhi’s next phase of ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ will touch Tripura and will stimulate people against the misrule and anarchy of the BJP government.
