Congress launched "Bharat Jodo - Tripura Bacho Yatra"

In an attempt to revive the organizational structure , the opposition Tripura Pradesh Congress on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on Saturday morning “Bharat Jodo - Tripura Bacho Yatra”.

After paying tributes before the portrait of Indira Gandhi, all Pradesh Congress leaders including PCC president Birajit Sinha, MLA Sudip Roy Barman, former PCC president Gopal Chandra Roy and Ashish Kumar Saha including former Chief Minister Samir Ranjan Barman led by AICC in-charge for Tripura Ajoy Kumar in presence of hundreds of party supporters launched the Yatra., which later covered different parts of the state.

Speaking with media persons, AICC in-charge Dr Ajoy Kumar said that the foot march has received a remarkable response from a cross section of people of Tripura and thousands of Congress supporters and workers from across the state joined the ‘Yatra’ in different subdivisions of the state.

The foot march in Agartala begins on Saturday morning, where leaders including Dr Ajoy Kumar, Birajit Sinha, Sudip Roy Barman, Gopal Roy and Ashish Kumar Saha marched towards different thoroughfares of Agartala to strengthen their support.

Dr Kumar said that Congress launched the Yatra for the people of the state to oust the ‘autocratic’ BJP government from Tripura and in support of their voices against high inflation, against religious polarization politics of BJP and demanding jobs for unemployed youths of the state.

He said that the yatra does not belong to the Congress and they are covering hundreds of kilometers to highlight the issues related to the people of the state.

Birajit Sinha said that a total of 1,200 kilometers of the path will be covered through the yatra, which will continue for the next seven days.

“Today is the big day for Congress, many leaders from ruling party and other like minded opposition parties joined to strengthen the hands of Congress to oust the anti-people BJP government from Tripura,” said Sinha and added that more and more people strengthening Congress hands during the seven days of “Bharat Jodo - Tripura Bacho Yatra”. Criticising the ‘Sushan campaign’ of the state government, Sinha said that through fake campaign the BJP government trying to hide their misdeed, but people of the state will not forget the 56 months long misrule and rule of violence and terror.

Speaking with media persons Ashish Kumar Saha said that the people of the state have decided to unseat the ‘anti-people’ BJP government through democratic means of election and claimed that BJP has ruined the state and hundreds of BJP supporters are now joining Congress for the betrayal politics of BJP government. He also claimed that no peace loving and honest people cannot sustain in BJP as the ruling are being controlled by miscreants and anti-socials. “BJP came to power with false promises and they betrayed with people of the Tripura, now time has come to strengthen the hands of Congress as Congress is the only party to able to oust BJP from Tripura,”, said Saha and added that after 56 months rule of BJP, the people of the state are now understood the betrayal politics of BJP.

Saha also said that “Bharat Jodo - Tripura Bacho Yatra” will cover all 60 assembly constituencies of the state with an objective to ensure that the concerns and demands of the people reach Delhi.
